Christoph De Babalon is known for tripping beats, dark wide spaces and eternal melancholy. He released his first record in 1994 on Hamburg's cult-label Fischkopf which was extensively played by BBC-DJ-legend John Peel along with his following releases. Right after his debut he began working with Alec Empire's Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) where he released his important album 'If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It'. DHR still say that it remains their most important release.
As a co-founder of the music label Cross Fade Enter Tainment he has been putting out records since since the mid 90s by influential electronic hardcore producers such as Somatic Responses, DJ Scud, Kouhei, Cdatakill, Unit Moebius, Zbigniew Karkowski and Merzbow. His most recent album ‘Short Eternities’ on Love Love Records sees Christoph exploring the abrasive nature of his earlier work whilst maintaining throughout the album a level of measured assuredness that touches upon a rich shadowy darkness akin to a handful of contemporaries such as Demdike Stare and Vatican Shadow, but with a vigour that captures the anarchic spirit of early breakcore.
